What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Bring your group on the ultimate urban mission trip!
Spread the Word of God and the love of Jesus on a week-long or weekend trip with eternal significance. Experience new cultures within the USA, work with the homeless and those in need, discover your ability to serve others outside your comfort zone, discover God’s call for your life, and have life-changing impact within local communities.
For over a decade Christ For the City International has been sending people into the inner-city to transform lives and cities for the Glory of God. The Urban Plunge program sends over 1,500 youth every year into 7 different cities within the United States: Chicago, Dallas, Omaha, Los Angeles, Sioux Falls, Des Moines, and Kansas City. We also offer a multicultural Plunge in Los Angeles.
We arrange all the details, partnering each group with 2-3 different ministries on each day of your trip, which allows students to discover how God is calling them. In addition to planning the schedule, we also take care of the food and accommodations for your trip at a very affordable price. Each Urban Plunge team is accompanied by a trained facilitator, who will encourage and debrief your youth in how to live lives of purpose, challenge, and incredible fulfillment for the Lord.
CUSTOMIZABLE: You tell us the dates that work for you. You tell us how many days you would like to serve! You know your group, so we put you in the driver's seat!
Here are some possible ministries you could serve at during your Urban Plunge:
RESTORATION MINISTRIES
Our goal is to restore hope to people while bringing lasting change to the community. Through 22 programs, we provide life-changing opportunities to at-risk underprivileged youth, men and women with histories of addiction and families struggling in poverty. An addiction Recovery program, food pantry, after-school program and day camp are a few of the programs.
As a part of this ministry, your group will be helping with many aspects of the ministry, including the food pantry, thrift store, and the after-school program.
JONES COMMUNITY CENTER
The Jones Community Center which provides after school tutoring and ESL programs. It also has a local food pantry and small clothing thrift store for the community.
As a part of this ministry, your team will assist with homework help, crafts, games in the after-school program, as well as help in the food pantry and thrift shop.
MY JOYFUL HEART
My Joyful Heart endures to be a positive influence by providing basic needs, school supplies and holiday gifts for children in need until their situation improves or they move from the area.
As a part of this ministry, your group will assist with donations and packing bags for the children that the ministry serves.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals
The Urban Plunge brings teams to work with various well-established local ministries whose vision is to serve the inner-city. Teams will partner with these ministries during the trip and have the opportunity to continue their involvement on a long-term basis through prayer or volunteering.

Christ For the City International (CFCI) is an international missions organization committed to serving others in the name of Christ. We have been shaped by the Biblical mandate to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since 1995, CFCI has been an innovative leader in modern mission circles and has become a respected urban ministry and mission agency.
It is our aim to encourage and strengthen local churches around the world. We do this by engaging and mentoring the Body of Christ to develop ministries and programs to bring hope to the city. We help local churches and ministries present people with the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and mobilize them into ministry. We have more than 500 mission workers in 15 countries serving through more than 130 different ministries!
