For over a decade Christ For the City International has been sending people into the inner-city to transform lives and cities for the Glory of God. The Urban Plunge program sends over 1,500 youth every year into 7 different cities within the United States: Chicago, Dallas, Omaha, Lincoln, Sioux Falls, Des Moines, Los Angeles and Kansas City. We Offer a multicultural Plunge in Los Angeles.

We arrange all the details, partnering each group with 2-3 different ministries on each day of your trip, which allows students to discover how God is calling them. In addition to planning the schedule, we also take care of the food and accommodations for your trip at a very affordable price. Each Urban Plunge team is accompanied by a trained facilitator, who will encourage and debrief your youth in how to live lives of purpose, challenge, and incredible fulfillment for the Lord.

Here are some possible ministries you could serve at during your Urban Plunge:

Siena Francis House

Siena Francis is Nebraska’s largest shelter, serving homeless men, women, and children. They provide emergency overnight shelter, food through their Meal Provider Program, clothing, and case management outreach services through their day services program. We will serve the residents nachos and hang out with them, providing the residents with a listening ear and a word of encouragement.

Heartland Hope Mission

It is a food pantry in south Omaha. Our team packs food boxes, sorts and hands out clothes, etc. This ministry is located in the Latino section of town–many of the recipients don’t speak English. After serving, we’ll hear we’ll hear the story of how Heartland Hope Mission began.

Open Door Mission

Is a homeless shelter in downtown Omaha. They are a faith based shelter who help build up peoples lives, We typically serve dinner and enjoy dinner with people in the program, or we will help at their clothing store the Timberlake Outreach, organizing clothes.
