Inquire about the trip

American Native Americans are the number one poverty group in America today. Only 3-5% of American Indians are Christians and a high percentage consider Christianity to be the White Mans religion. Meanwhile, violence is five times the national average on reservations. Death from drugs, alcohol, suicide, automobile accidents are a daily occurrence. The unemployment rate can be as high as 90% in some communities. The number of Native Americans incarcerated is, at times, four times the national average. The research is worth every bit of energy you give it!

What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

Groups are encouraged to choose the ministry they would like to do throughout the week. We encourage you to pick the opportunity that most fits your group so that you can take ownership in preparation, prayer, and execution of the tasks you choose.
Children’s Ministry: Your team could have the opportunity to put on VBS for kids from both tribes. You could even put on a week long camp for kids, or run an overnight camping and canoeing trip. They would love for your group to use their strengths in working with kids (skateboarding, sports, you name it!)
Work Projects: There are some small work projects that the churches could use some help with.

Lodging
While staying in the camp facilities at Midwest Indian Missions, your team will sleep in bunk beds in cabins. Bedding and towels are not provided, nor are pillow and toiletries. There are separate cabins for males and females. The camp has two restroom/shower buildings. Each has 3 showers with hot water, and 4 toilets. Accommodations are comfortable and close to a central camp fire pit, the kitchen/dining room, and the activities areas. If your team plans to venture out into the forests and rivers, you’ll need to plan for tent camping. All to be determined.

Travel
You will need to provide your own transportation during the duration of your stay. Most groups fly or drive in and then obtain a rental vehicle if needed. The nearest airports are Rhinelander or Wausau. Alternate airports include: Green Bay, Appleton, or Milwaukee. Throughout the week, teams will use their own vehicles for transportation.

Mission Trip Offered By Adventures in Missions

You want to follow Jesus’s example in the way He cared for the lost and the hurting. You want to take up Jesus’s commission to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and be His witness to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

Adventures in Missions is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. We emphasize prayer and relationships in our work around the world. We seek to disciple as Jesus did; our vision is that God would use us to raise up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ.

Since we were established in 1989, we have taken over 115,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. We minister year-round through our ministry bases and strategic ministry partnerships. We believe that by giving people the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and join what God is doing in other cultures and nations, lives are transformed.
