What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Arts Release is a ministry in WEC that reaches out with the gospel through the arts for people ages 18-35.
We are looking for semi-professional to professional artists and arts students in any art form, from any tradition. You will have the opportunitiy to serve children and youth, experience arts in missions, discover local culture and people, & collaborate with local workers. There is room for up to 6 participants on this team.
Ministries
- Visit a local church on Sundays
- Visit Christian leaders of the Seminary
- Special arts programme at the primary and secondary school (e.g. art competition, Christmas concert)
- Girls' hostel (e.g. art workshop, worship songwriting)
- A group meeting with Muslim ladies (e.g. craft activity, evangelical activity)
- Visit mosques or coffee shops (male members only)
- Prayer walk
Accommodation: Team members will be staying in a private guesthouse with a common room.
Application process – Applicants need to submit a portfolio consisting of the following:
- For performing artists – a video of you performing live (for at least 3 mins) for each art form you are proficient in. This should preferably be a solo performance. If it is a group performance, your part in a group should be distinct and different from the other group members. Please also specify which part is yours.
- For visual artists – clear photographs of your artworks. Please include information for each piece, including title, medium/media, and a brief description.
- In addition, all artists are to submit a short CV indicating their arts training/background, performing, exhibiting and/or speaking/teaching experience.
- The Arts Release team may also request an interview and/or audition over Zoom for selected applicants at their discretion.
Participants will participate in a pre-field orientation in Philadelphia PA.at the WEC USA headquarters campus. Arts Release will meet with all divers online concurrently with the basic orientation and before the trip to discuss the plans for the arts program. Arts Release will cover arts in mission training. After the trip, you will return to Philadelphia for a 4 day debriefing before returning home. Application deadline August 1, 2025.
