What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
This trip is the first medical/dental trip that CERT International will be making to the Amazon jungle since the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the objectives of this trip is to re-establish contact with local church leaders that can serve as a launchpad for future Amazon missions. The tentative dates for this trip are May 23-31. Clinics will be held Monday 5/26 through Friday 5/30.
We currently have two clinic locations: up the Madre de Dios river and in the city of Puerto Maldonado. Reaching the up-river location involves traveling for several hours by boat, followed by clinics that may last between five to eight hours. It will likely be hot and humid, and team members are encouraged to protect themselves with strong insect repellent, at least for the up-river clinics. This is an extreme adventure mission trip. Team members must be in good health and good physical conditioning.
While there is no tourism/sightseeing planned for the whole team, there will be opportunities to explore the city or purchase souvenirs in Puerto Maldonado. Biodiversity sightseeing can be arranged with our Peru contact, Alex Lenz, closer to the trip dates.
