Mission trips to orphanages in East Africa

Empower a Child has mission trips in Africa  all throughout the year. From one weeks or one year we have a place for those who have a heart for the orphans and the youth of Africa.

Individual Short-term Mission Trips:

Short-term missions trips range from1 weeks to 2 months. Volunteers are welcome to come as individuals and work with orphans to share the love of Christ through praise and worship, skits and drama, games and crafts  with the most vulnerable orphans and youth of in Africa. Volunteers also work in a project of their choice. Many people come volunteer in orphanages, babies’ homes, join a sports ministry outreach to street children, teach in a school for orphans and vulnerable children, teach in a school for handicapped children, or work in a medical clinic.

Group Short-term Mission Trips:

Churches, youth groups, and small groups are welcome to partner with us in short-term mission trips. These mission trips are usually about two weeks. The first week the team will join our weekly outreach programs and the second week the team will be in the village helping to build a project that will create self-sustainability and economic empowerment for a family of orphans or the entire village. The trip would end with a three-day safari in one of Uganda’s national parks.

Note: If you are an individual interested in joining a group short-term mission trip we hold one mission trip each summer where individuals join together from different parts of America and the UK for two weeks in Africa. Even if your church cannot come for a mission trip you may still participate in a group trip.

We also welcome volunteers for three months to one year with Empower a Child longer. For those interested in coming three months to one year you would assist our full-time staff in weekly outreach programs as well as volunteer at various projects of your choice, such as a medical clinic, teaching in a school for orphans and vulnerable children.. As a longer term volunteer you have the flexibility to volunteer at a projects that coincide with your gifts, talents, and passions. Some volunteers have a heart for babies and toddlers and spend their time working with this age group while some may have a passion for teens and work to disciple the youth. Many past members have even started new programs or curriculm and created improvements for some of the projects they volunteered with.
