What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Embark on a Life-Changing Adventure with CERT International!
** THIS TRIP IS CURRENTLY ON A WAITLIST**
Open to adult volunteers (18+). No medical experience is required, but preference is given to medically trained individuals! Whether you're providing medical aid, offering encouragement, or simply being present, your willingness to serve can make a life-changing difference.
Spots are limited.
What You’ll Experience:
- Provide essential medical care to underserved villages.
- Partner with local pastors on Nosy Be to care for their congregations.
- Witness the gospel spread across the island!
- Participate in a powerful Sunday Celebration Service.
- Enjoy deep fellowship with teammates and locals each evening.
- Stay comfortably in locally run hotels (double occupancy).
- Experience the beauty and diversity of Madagascar with cultural outings after clinic!
NOTE: Flights are only guaranteed on Tuesdays & Thursdays at Nosy Be Airport (NOS). Team members will stay in the city and set up free medical and dental clinics in the surrounding areas, serving from morning to late afternoon. This isn’t just a trip—it’s an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

Important Information:
- VACCINES REQUIRED – YES. Yellow Fever Vaccination *(must provide proof of vaccine – Yellow Card) *. Suggest having a current tetanus, Hep. A and Hep B.
- MEDICATIONS REQUIRED – NONE. Anti-Malaria medication is strongly suggested for this location.
- VISA REQUIRED – YES. U.S. passport holders must purchase a tourist visa on arrival at the airport. USD 10 for a 15-day tourist visa.
- LIABILITY RELEASE – YES. Sign and returned to CERT. The "Form" is included with your information pack after.
- BACKGROUND CHECK – YES. All applications received on or after January 1, 2026 must submit a "Background Check". CERT will send you a LINK to follow. $0.00 US Citizens, There is a fee for Canadian or other countries.

Acceptance is only one step in the application process. To secure your spot on a team, you must submit a completed application and a $250 deposit. Team sizes may be limited.

No prior training is required for this trip. A team manual will be provided before departure. Training includes:
- Pre-field preparation through the CERT Team Manual, a mission-specific guide, a pre-trip devotional, and ongoing communication with our office and team leader.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals
For the last 12 years, there has been a mixed team of foreign and Malagasy missionaries working to engage the Sakalava people who live there. Our goal is to partner with these missionaries and have clinics in the villages of Ambatosavavy, Andrafia, and Befotaka.

Mission Trip Offered By CERT International
Christian Emergency Relief Teams (CERT) International is a non-denominational 501 (c) (3) dedicated to serving international churches and missionaries. We assist their ministries, creating open doors by meeting the practical needs of the local people and refugees. Free medical/dental clinics and humanitarian aid are provided in response to healthcare and emergency situations in underprivileged communities to show the love of Christ.
We are founded on the principles of Jesus from Matthew 9:35-38: He went out to the people, healed the sick, and preached the good news of the kingdom. He ministered to physical and spiritual needs, setting a model for holistic ministry.
CERT International was established in 1974 by David Courson in response to a hurricane in Nicaragua. Courson and members of his local church continued relief initiatives throughout the Nicaraguan civil war. As stability slowly entered the region, CERT began to branch out to other areas of need worldwide. In 1991, Courson chose to pursue other ventures, and the leadership of CERT was given to Dr. Ken Daugherty. Daugherty continued to expand the organization’s global reach, and the focus of CERT changed from crisis response to bringing emergency relief and aid to developing countries. As a pastor, Daugherty emphasized the importance of building up the local church internationally. The organization began working exclusively with churches and missionaries abroad to help strengthen their ministries by providing free healthcare, aid, and construction.
Today our focus has not changed. We serve people groups that have little to no access to healthcare and bring humanitarian aid into unstable regions. We aim to increase the kingdom of God by providing these services and working to build lasting relationships with churches and missionaries on the field.
