Join us next winter in Lima Peru! Meet our incredible partner, Wilma Grandez, and help her serve the children and women of Lima! Our goal is to help Wilma meet the physical and spiritual needs with various ministries. Together, we'll offer medical clinics, an eyeglass ministry, womens health conferences, daily children's ministry, light construction projects for the school, and prayer walking and evangelism. This team needs people with a wide range of skills, including medical professionals, those with construction abilities, individuals who can work with children, translators/interpreters, people with organizational skills, preachers, and more. However, the most important qualities you can bring to this team are a willingness to serve in whatever capacity is needed, flexibility, and an openness to let God stretch you beyond your comfort zone!

What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

Beautiful Children of Peru

Join us next winter in Lima Peru!

Our ministry partner in Lima is Wilma Grandez. Wilma has been working with children and families on the outskirts of Lima, in Carabayllo, for over 20 years—feeding them and sharing the love of Jesus. She founded a Christian school, and the Lord has used this school as a beacon of hope, providing children with an education, hot lunches each day, and a place to learn about Jesus. We are so grateful for how God is working through this school to break cycles of abuse and bring hope and healing in the name of Jesus to this community! Wilma continues to serve in multiple feeding centers in the community alongside her ministry team, providing food and discipleship for women and children.

There will be a variety of ministries in which you and your team can participate. Our goal is to help meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the community. In partnership with Wilma and her team, we will offer medical clinics, an eyeglass ministry, and women’s health conferences. We will minister to children daily, and there will be opportunities for light construction projects, such as painting and preparing the school for the upcoming year. Prayer walking and evangelism will also be integral parts of this mission.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

While Catholicism is predominant, many Peruvians blend Christian beliefs with indigenous spiritual practices. Across the country, there are still many unreached people groups who have yet to hear the Gospel.

Carabayllo, one of Lima’s northern districts—and where our ministry will take place for the week—is a rapidly growing area with a mix of urban and rural landscapes. It is home to many hardworking families, including those who have migrated from other parts of Peru in search of better opportunities. Poverty, economic hardships, lack of education, abuse, neglect, and abandonment plague the area, creating barriers to both physical well-being and spiritual growth.

Yet, despite these challenges, the community of Carabayllo is strong, resilient, and full of hope. Churches and local organizations—like our ministry partner, Wilma Grandez—play a crucial role in supporting families through education, health initiatives, and spiritual growth. Our mission is to partner with Wilma to bring hope, encouragement, and the love of Christ to those who have never heard or fully understood the Gospel through various ministry opportunities.

What to expect when you go with GO Before every trip we have 3 team meetings, prepping and training our team before we go. Each team member receives a handbook in the mail, and a kit containing T-shirt, luggage tags, a journal and important trip information including team roster and flight information. Before the flight we will go through an orientation checklist and pray together as a team. Every day of the trip there will be daily checklist and check-ins. During the trip we end the days with debrief sessions. We encourage team members to use the journals from the kit to reflect on their trip and add any comments during the debrief time. Before returning home there will be a closing checklist, including how to deal with return-culture shock, a time of prayer and closing devotional. On return, team members will receive their trip photo, a thank you card, and continued support and encouraged relationship with GO InterNational.
