What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

Use your love of sports to build relationships, encourage others, and share the hope of Jesus.
In Costa Rica, sports are more than games—they’re a bridge to relationships, mentorship, community, and the hope of Jesus. Through soccer outreach, sports camps, team practices, tournaments, discipleship, community events, and relationship-based ministry, you’ll serve alongside local leaders and connect with children, teens, women, and men in meaningful ways.
This trip is ideal for sports teams, churches, schools, students, young adults, families, and individuals who love sports or simply enjoy encouraging others. You don’t have to play competitively or be a professional coach. You just need a willingness to show up, build relationships, and use sports as a way to serve others.
What You’ll Be Doing

Partner with local ministry leaders who are already deeply invested in their communities and the people they serve.

Use sports to build relationships through soccer outreach, tournaments, camps, clinics, practices, and team-building activities.

Create positive spaces for kids and teens where they can experience belonging, encouragement, mentorship, teamwork, and the love of Jesus.

Build relationships through discipleship and outreach by sharing testimonies, praying with others, encouraging spiritual growth, and investing in young people.

Serve in several of Costa Rica’s largest cities while staying at one of our local CFCI bases.
You’ll fly into San José, Costa Rica, and stay in a Christ For the City International guesthouse while experiencing ministry alongside local leaders and communities.
Your Love of Sports Can Be a Ministry.
For many young people, especially those growing up around poverty, family instability, violence, addiction, and limited opportunities, sports can offer something different: a place to belong, people to trust, a team to be part of, and a community where they can discover purpose and hope.
You may lead a soccer practice, organize a tournament, encourage a young athlete, pray with a family, share your testimony, or simply spend time getting to know someone. Every game can open a door. Every relationship can create an opportunity.
