What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Teach. Connect. Transform.
Use your language skills, encouragement, and willingness to serve to build relationships, create opportunities, and share the love of Jesus.
Through English classes, conversation groups, tutoring, and Bible-based outreach, you’ll serve alongside local ministry leaders while helping children, youth, and adults grow in confidence, communication skills, and community.
This trip is ideal for students, teachers, young adults, families, church groups, and individuals who want to use English as a tool for ministry and connection. You don’t have to be a professional teacher, have a teaching degree, or speak perfect Spanish. You simply need a willingness to encourage others, build relationships, and help students practice conversational English.
What You’ll Be Doing

Partner with local ministry leaders who are already deeply invested in their communities and the people they serve.

Help students grow in confidence and opportunity through conversational English classes, tutoring, games, and interactive learning activities.

Build relationships through education and mentorship by encouraging students, listening to their stories, and creating welcoming spaces where they can learn and grow.

Connect English ministry with the Gospel through Bible lessons, discussion groups, prayer, encouragement, and community outreach.

Serve in several of Costa Rica’s largest cities while staying at one of our local CFCI bases.
You’ll fly into San José, Costa Rica, and stay in a Christ For the City International guesthouse while experiencing ministry alongside local leaders and communities.

Learning English can create new opportunities for employment, education, tourism-related jobs, and future stability. But this ministry is about more than vocabulary and grammar. It’s about connection.
You may lead a conversation group, help a child with homework, play an English-learning game, share a Bible lesson, encourage a student who is struggling, or simply sit down and practice speaking together. Every lesson is an opportunity to build confidence, create connection, and point people toward the hope of Jesus.
