Community Service Mission Trip to Springfield, VA (Week of Hope)

Just outside of Washington, D.C., Springfield is a scenic and welcoming suburb along the Potomac River. What was once a quiet rural town has grown into a diverse community full of families, close-knit neighborhoods, and plenty of natural beauty. From peaceful parks to places like the Occoquan Bay Wildlife Refuge, there’s a real sense of charm and connection to the outdoors here.

The people here are proud of their town and its deep roots, but like many places, Springfield and nearby cities still face some tough challenges. Many families are dealing with financial struggles, limited access to resources, and the effects of housing insecurity. That’s where your group can make a real impact.

During your time here, you’ll come alongside the community in simple but powerful ways—offering help, encouragement, and a few extra hands where they’re needed most. Whether it’s connecting with local kids, supporting families, or lending a hand to seniors, you’ll be part of something meaningful that leaves a lasting impression on both sides.

Your teenagers will perform practical, meaningful acts of community service for some very special people. People whose lives you’ll touch…whose names you’ll learn. And, you’ll enjoy a personal, friendly setting of less than 100 participants…ideal for getting to know everyone.

You and your young people will partner with local churches, service agencies, and homeowners. And over the five days, your help will bolster the efforts of the ongoing work in these communities.

Your young people will make new friends, create new memories, and have a wonderful time together. Most importantly, your teenagers will discover that as they focus on the needs of others…they grow closer to Jesus.

We’ll take care of the details for you so you can concentrate on your teenagers. Your young people will learn new skills, serve in important roles, and have loads of fun as you assist the elderly…tutor struggling kids…conduct a backyard Bible club…serve at a food bank…staff an activities camp for disabled children…spruce up the grounds of a financially strapped social service agency…engage children at a day camp…and improve the community in other important ways. You’ll also serve other trip participants through meal preparation, cleanup, and maintaining the lodging facility.

And when the sun goes down, you and your young people will experience faith-building, interactive programs that include Scripture, worship, video, and drama. Programs are coordinated by a staff member, but you, your young people, and other participants will participate in other program elements.

Your mission trip will be run by ministry-minded staff, including highly-trained, college-age leaders.
