What to Expect When You Go with GO Going on a mission trip with GO means you’re never going it alone. From the moment you sign up to the moment you return home, we’ll help you prepare, stay connected, and make the most of your experience. Before You Go Preparation starts well before your flight! Before every trip, we hold three team meetings designed to prepare, equip, and train you for the journey ahead. Each team member will also receive a GO Team Kit in the mail. Your kit includes a T-shirt, luggage tags, a journal, and important trip information such as your team roster and flight details. At the Airport Before we board the plane, we’ll walk through an orientation checklist together to make sure everyone is prepared and knows what to expect. Then, we’ll take time to pray together as a team before beginning our journey. While You’re There Each day of the trip includes daily checklists and team check-ins to help everyone stay informed, prepared, and connected. At the end of each day, we’ll come together for a debrief session. These times give us an opportunity to talk about what we experienced, celebrate what God is doing, process challenges, and encourage one another. Your journal from the GO Team Kit is a great place to record your thoughts, experiences, and reflections throughout the trip—and you’re encouraged to bring those reflections into our daily debriefs. From preparation to the journey home, GO is here to help you feel equipped, supported, and ready to serve. Preparing to Come Home Coming home is more than simply getting back on a plane. Before we leave, we’ll take time for a closing checklist to make sure everyone is prepared for the journey home and knows what to expect when they return. We’ll also talk about reverse culture shock—the sometimes unexpected emotions and challenges that can come with returning to your normal routine after experiencing life in another culture. Before heading home, we’ll share a closing devotional and a time of prayer together. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the journey, thank God for what He has done, and pray about how the experience will continue to shape each of us after we return. After You Return Our relationship with you doesn’t end when your trip does. After you return home, each team member will receive a trip photo and a thank-you card as a reminder of the experience you shared with your team. More importantly, we want to continue walking alongside you. We encourage every team member to stay connected with GO InterNational, continue building relationships with others in our GO family, and look for ways to carry what you experienced on your trip into your everyday life.
