What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Skyscrapers. Night markets. A dozen languages on every street corner. Kuala Lumpur is one of Southeast Asia’s most electric, diverse mega-cities and this summer, you’ll dive headfirst into it.
You’ll partner with local ministry leaders, untangle the cultural and religious threads that make this city tick, and get a real education in what urban missions looks like when modernity, migration, and multi-faith complexity collide. It’s a crash course in listening, observing, and serving well in a wildly complex context.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals
You’ll serve alongside local ministry leaders, long-term workers, and believers who are faithfully living out the Gospel in one of the world’s most diverse urban centers. Rather than running stand-alone programs, you’ll step into existing ministries and relationships, learning from those who have spent years engaging the city across cultural, linguistic, and religious lines. Through these partnerships, you’ll gain a firsthand look at what it takes to faithfully serve and make disciples in a complex global city.

Around the world, countless communities still have little or no opportunity to encounter the Gospel and the transforming love of Jesus. By walking closely with churches and caring for workers, TEAM helps establish and sustain missional churches and communities of faith that endure long after workers return home. Our ministries will remain wonderfully varied, reflecting the many gifts God has given His people and the unique needs of the communities we serve. Yet beneath that diversity can be a shared conviction: whatever form our ministry takes, we desire to see healthy, indigenous, missional churches fellowships of Jesus followers living the way of Christ, established where access to the Gospel is limited. We strive to mobilize disciples from anywhere to serve everywhere, focusing on the places where the most need exists. In over 135 years of ministry, strategies and needs have changed countless times, but one thing never will: Where Christ calls us, we will go.
